Automations
An automation (also called a workflow) is a set of instructions SURGE follows on its own. Every automation has two parts:
- a trigger — the event that starts it, such as “a form is submitted” or “a card moves to No Answer”, and
- actions — what SURGE then does, such as “wait 10 minutes, then send this text”.
You’ll find them under Automation in the left-hand menu.
The automations we built for you
Section titled “The automations we built for you”Your account runs on a set of automations named WF-00, WF-01, WF-02 and so on. Together they handle new-lead intake, colour coding, call counting, confirmations, reminders and every follow-up sequence. What we’ve set up for you explains what they do in plain English.
Building your own
Section titled “Building your own”You’re welcome to build your own automations alongside ours. A few good first projects:
- A happy-birthday text to members
- A review request a week after someone joins
- An internal email to you whenever a lead is tagged

Rules for your own automations
Section titled “Rules for your own automations”- Name them clearly and differently from ours — start each name with your business initials, for example.
- Don’t trigger off the same events as ours. If your automation starts when a card moves to No Answer, the lead gets two lots of messages. Use your own tags or forms as triggers.
- Test with a real contact, not just an opportunity card. The best test is to put yourself through it: fill in the form or add the tag to your own contact.
- Change one thing at a time, then test again.
